Wholesale Bread Becomes Easy Taco Roll-Ups
There is such a thing as Italian roll-ups, so why not put a Mexican spin on them and turn them into taco roll-ups? When you already have frozen bread dough, they’re really easy to make.
Ingredients:
- 1 package of wholesale bread, thawed but not cooked
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 package taco seasoning
- 3 tablespoons hot water
- 2 cups cheddar cheese, grated
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. In a small bowl, combine hot water and taco seasoning and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, begin browning beef and onions together. Add taco seasoning mixture and continue cooking until beef is entirely cooked, breaking up the beef as you do.
- Meanwhile, generously flour a work surface and roll package dough into a rectangle measuring about 20 inches long and 8 inches wide.
- When beef mixture is finished cooking, spread over entire surface of dough, leaving about an inch along the edges free of filling. Sprinkle cheddar cheese over top of beef mixture.
- Starting with the long edge closest to you, begin rolling the entire thing , making sure that you roll fairly tightly. When everything has been rolled, pinch the seam to seal it with the rest of the dough.
- Slice into 1” thick pieces, making sure to put any filling that’s spilled out back onto the rolls. Place onto a baking sheet, cut-side up, and cook in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes.
- Remove from oven and serve to your customers with salsa, sour cream, and lots of guacamole for dipping.
As a make-ahead you can cook as directed above, cool completely, and freeze. Take a sheet out in the morning to serve to customers all day long, or just zap them in the microwave upon order.
