What’s the Difference between Whole Wheat Pizza Dough and Multigrain Pizza Dough?
If you’re looking to switch up the variety in your pizza dough, you might be looking at both multi-grain dough and whole wheat pizza dough. But what is the difference?
Whole wheat dough will contain a certain percentage of whole wheat within it – usually anywhere from 40 – 60 per cent. To this white flour, corn flour, or another type of flour will be added to give the dough more body and to allow it to rise, act, and cook like traditional pizza dough. While both this and multi grain dough are better for you than other types of dough, they do have their differences.
Multigrain products may contain whole wheat, but they will also contain many other types of grains as well. Caraway seeds, sunflower seeds, oats, cornmeal, flax, and millet. There are many benefits to this type of product. One is that they can add certain health benefits that whole wheat alone just can’t. Another is that they can also provide a different flavor to the crust, something those who think pizza dough can be boring will appreciate.
