Want Your Retail Pizza Dough to Become Even More Popular? Use a New Way to Recycle!

NY Style Pizza Many pizza shops know that customers care about more than just their own needs when they’re out shopping today, whether it’s for a new pair of shoes or pizza for that night’s dinner. And some have hopped on the trend of being environmentally-friendly by presenting their retail pizza dough in a box constructed of recycled cardboard. That may be enough for your customers, but what if they could help the environment and get savings at the same time? Chances are that would be enough to keep them coming back for your shop’s homemade pizza

Like most great marketing concepts, the concept of this one is very simple. Instead of giving every customer their pizza in a cardboard box, use plastic instead. But how is plastic recyclable? It’s true that it’s not in the way that cardboard is, but it is reusable, and easy to clean. This makes it a sure-fire win for customers and for those selling their frozen pizza.  Customers need to purchase just the first one, probably for a price of about $10 – $12, and then they can use it every time they come back to pick up their pizza.

In exchange for giving up the convenience of a box they can just throw into the recycling bin, those customers receive a discount of $1 or $2 every time they pick up their pizza. You win by giving customers an incentive to come to you to buy their pizza; and they win by getting savings on all those pizzas after the first one.

It’s true that manufacturing the plastic boxes will take some investment initially for the pizza shop owner. But isn’t that investment worth it knowing that you’ll get future profits that are practically guaranteed each and every time someone buys a reusable box?
