Use Frozen Rolls to Fake this Dish – it’s Knish!

Frozen RollsBe very certain that when you place this dish on your menu that you specify that it’s a fun take on the classic dish, Knish. Otherwise, you may never hear the end of it from those that grew up on it. All you need is some wholesale bread, a few prepared meatballs, and a little bit of cheese!

Ingredients:

  • 5 frozen rolls, thawed
  • 10 prepared meatballs, thawed if frozen
  • ½ cup mozzarella cheese
  • ½ tablespoons butter, melted
  • ½ cup bread crumbs

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease a baking sheet.
  2. Cut each roll of DeIorios dough in half and flatten so that it forms a circle.
  3. In the center of each circle place a generous pinch of cheese. On top of the cheese place one meatball per dough.
  4. Bring the sides up and seal at the top to completely cover the meat and cheese inside. Repeat with each remaining piece of dough.
  5. Roll each piece, individually, in melted butter and then immediately in bread crumbs. Place on baking sheet.
  6. When all fake knishes are ready, place them in the oven and bake for about 15 minutes, until the dough is golden brown. Remove and serve immediately.

You can serve these alongside marinara sauce or mustard and ketchup for dipping. They’re great as an entrée or an appetizer.
