Turn Stale Package Dough into Bread Crumbs for Any Use

Sub RollsBread crumbs are one of those ingredients that every restaurant needs, but no business owner actually wants to spend money on. Bread crumbs can be used in meatballs, meatloaf, to top casseroles and other dishes, as well as for hundreds of other recipes and dishes. Making them is simple; and making buttered bread crumbs gives you even tastier dishes faster!

Start with any sub rolls wholesale bread, or package dough that has been cooked and has gone stale. Break it up into large chunks and place in a food processor. Blend until you’re left with very small, sand-like bread crumbs that can be used as filler or anything else you need. Store these in the freezer as is, or take it up another level by simply adding melted butter to them.

Using a ratio of about ½ cup melted butter to 1 cup bread crumbs, simply stir the two together until it becomes a thick mixture. Use this to top casserole dishes such as macaroni and cheese or scalloped potatoes, and just see the difference it makes. Having this on-hand can also be convenient, but can’t be stored as long as dry bread crumbs, as buttered bread crumbs shouldn’t be frozen. Instead, keep them in the fridge for up to five days.

Don’t ever let any of your bread go to waste! If it’s gone stale and is past the point of reviving, make it really stale instead and use it as a filler or topper for other dishes.
