The Most Expensive Pizza Has Nothing To Do with the Pizza Dough!

Pizza DoughWhile it’s true that it’s not the pizza dough that makes the world’s most expensive pizza what it is, it’s a good bet that Italian pizza dough was used; because it was an Italian that made it! It was Domenico Crolla, a Scots-born Italian, that made the world’s most expensive pizza, and he made it for Valentine’s Day!

He started his creation by marinating only the very best lobster meat in the world’s finest cognac and caviar. And that caviar, by the way, was first soaked in champagne just to make it even more debonair. He then topped the pizza crust with not only that divine lobster and caviar, but also with Scottish smoked salmon and medallions of venison. Lying underneath all of those gourmet meats was tomato sauce that used only sun-blush tomatoes, which is a fancy way to dry them using the sun without dehydrating them.

Of course, every pizza needs a little sprinkling of fresh parsley or Parmesan cheese to finish it off, and Chef Crolla’s pizza needed something too. In place of herbs or cheese though of course, he sprinkled little bits of edible gold on top of his. It’s no wonder why the pizza was priced at $2,745 for a 12-inch pie!
