Serve Summer Freshness with Cherry Tarts Baked in Thin Pizza Crust

Thin Pizza DoughNothing says summer like cherry tarts and you can add them to your menu easily, and without too many extra ingredients. If you’re already purchasing commercial pizza dough and frosting as a dessert pizza garnish, all you really need are the cherries.

Ingredients:

  • 1 package thin pizza crust, cut into small squares
  • 1 can dessert cherry filling
  • 1 can vanilla frosting
  • ¼ cup brown sugar

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit, or the temperature directed by the dough package.
  2. Place the small portions of dough into individual muffin tins.
  3. Fill with a tablespoon or two of cherry filling, depending on how large your tins are.
  4. Sprinkle with brown sugar and place tarts in the oven for 10-12 minutes (check with the package to ensure right time.)
  5. Remove from the oven and allow tarts to cool fully before frosting with garnish. Otherwise, the garnish will melt and you won’t have that beautiful topping.

Offer these as a regular dessert menu item, or put them on special for National Cherry Tart Day, which is on June 18th. We don’t think anyone needs a special occasion to enjoy a tasty treat though!
