Put Anchovies on Pizza Dough to Celebrate Sardine Day!
Did you know that November 24 is National Sardines Day? And did you know that you can celebrate it with your customers, without purchasing anything new for your fridge or pantry? You can do it by topping pizza dough with the anchovies already on your menu!
The term ‘sardines’ doesn’t refer to one particular kind of fish; it refers to any small type of anchovies – and there, anchovies fit the bill! So feel free to put them on your menu, and perhaps even include a discount for those customers who also want to celebrate the day and top their pizza crust with anchovies.
If you do want to take the celebration a bit further, consider offering Caesar salad on your menu, and at a discounted price. Caesar salad dressing often includes anchovy paste, which you can purchase, or use the anchovies you have on hand to form into a paste. You can add this to the dressing or, to make it really easy on yourself, you can just buy ready-made dressing and use that to top your Caesar salads. Caesar salad is often a very popular side to serve alongside pizza or frozen rolls so it’s something bound to sell when you put a promotion on it.
