Meatball Pizza with Meatballs Right in the Pizza Dough!

 Par Baked ShellsEveryone loves pizza, and everyone loves meatballs – so why not use meatballs as a pizza garnish to top that fresh pizza dough? Better yet, why not tuck a few of them right into the dough?

Ingredients:

  • 1 package dough, completely defrosted
  • Meatballs, fully cooked
  • Mozzarella cheese, grated
  • Mushrooms, sliced
  • Pizza sauce

Instructions:

  1. Lay out your dough flat on a clean work surface.
  2. Top with these ingredients, in this order: pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, sliced mushrooms, and meatballs. Leave the thick edge of the crust alone for now; you’ll get to that in the next step.
  3. Using two fingers, make small pockets along the edge of the dough, about two inches apart and deep enough to tuck a meatball into.
  4. Then, just start placing your meatballs right into the dough! Place them in and then snuggle them down a bit so that when the dough bakes, it will rise up slightly and completely enfold the sides of the meat.
  5. Preheat oven to 450 degrees, or the temperature that you typically cook your pizzas. Slide meatball pizza in, allow to cook for 12-15 minutes, and then remove.
  6. Slice it up to sell single slices, or just deliver the whole pie to that family waiting for it at one of your booths. They’ll love it!

It can often be hard to think of a new take on pizza that will truly excite your customers. This is one that will definitely do the trick!
