Making Dumplings Out of Pizza Dough Balls? Yes You Can!

Pizza Dough BallsOnce you can offer your customers dumplings, you have a much broader menu at your fingertips. You can keep them as simple hot pockets filled with delicious meat or vegetable filling, or you can use them in other dishes such as chicken and dumplings, or in hearty soups and stews. The good news is that in order to offer them to your customers you don’t need to order anything different than what you already are, and they only take a few minutes to pull together.

First, how much you stretch and shape your pizza dough balls will depend on the size of dumplings you’re making. If you’re making small dumplings to drop into soups and stews, simply tear off small pieces of the frozen pizza dough once it’s defrosted and drop them into the liquid to fully cook.

If you’re making larger dumplings to fill with steamed vegetables or slow-cooked, shredded meat, simply tear the Italian pizza dough in half, create a well in the center ensuring that the dough is no more than 1” thick, and stuff with filling. Close the dough over filling, pinching at the seams to seal, and boil to make a very soft and tender, dumpling-like dough.

Dumplings are always a huge hit, and your customers will love the unique spin you put on yours. And you can create a signature filling that’s all your own and that they’ll keep coming back for.
