Loose Meat Sandwiches on Extra Thick Wholesale Bread

Ingredients:

  • Sub rolls or other thick bread
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon lard
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • Pickle slices
  • ½ cup water, or less
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Melt lard in a skillet over medium-high heat and add ground beef. Break beef up into small pieces and add onion.
  2. Cook, stirring and breaking up beef occasionally, until beef is finished cooking and no pink remains.
  3. When meat is done, drain fat and add beef back to pan along with mustard, vinegar, sugar, and just enough water to cover the meat.
  4. Bring to a boil and then lower heat to a simmer. Cook for 15-20 minutes.
  5. When finished cooking, remove beef mixture from heat and get rolls prepared. Open them, add ground beef, another dab of mustard, and a couple of pickle slices. Then just wrap in aluminum foil and serve!
