Let Your Customers Make Their Own Homemade Pizza for Once!
You spend just about every day of the year making the most wholesome and delicious pizza for your customers. But what if one day, maybe even one day a week, you handed over the frozen pizza dough and let them make their own? You can, and it’s very easy to do!
Most of us by now have seen the Seinfeld episode in which Kramer proposes that customers make their own homemade pizza at Poppy’s restaurant. And while you might not want to have “people sticking their arms into a hot oven,” you can still give them the choice of creating their own pizza.
Simply create a “Make Your Own Pizza” menu that’s only offered on a certain night. Price all the pizza ordered from this menu the same price, with additional toppings (for instance, over five) available at a surcharge. Let them choose their own type of dough, their own sauce, and of course, their own toppings. Allow them to eat their own pizza right in the restaurant, and make the option available for takeout and delivery too. You can even take it one step further by allowing customers to pick up their unbaked pizza and take it home to cook in their own oven.
You might think that allowing customers to make their own pizza is something that’s reserved for sitcoms, but it doesn’t have to be. Try this promotion in your own restaurant, and see just how Kramer knew what he was talking about all along.
