Hummus for Your Frozen Bagels!

Bagel with Hummus

If you’re serving frozen bagels at your restaurant, you’ve probably noticed that generally when it comes to
toppings, people like to keep it simple. But still, you want to be able to give your customers choices and options, for those times when they do want to mix it up a bit. That’s why hummus can be a great option for this type of package dough.

Ingredients

  • 1 can of chickpeas (garbanzo beans,) drained and rinsed
  • 4 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 ½ tablespoons tahini
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup olive oil

Directions

  1. Place all ingredients except for the olive oil in a food processor. Blend until all ingredients are broken down and nearly smooth. Then, stream the olive oil in slowly, with the food processor on pulse as you do so. Continue to blend until a smooth puree consistency, not liquid, has formed. Note that you may not need to use all the olive oil in order to do this.

Hummus can be served with any type of bread, from bagels to pita chips, and even sub rolls that have been toasted until they’re crispy, crunchy (break bits off before toasting for a truly rustic look!) And best of all, it’s an inexpensive and easy-to-make appetizer that you can add to your menu!
