How to Tell When Retail Pizza Dough is Sufficiently Defrosted —–

Frozen Pizza DoughWhen you’re looking for different things to do with your retail pizza dough, a lot of recipes will require that you defrost it first. This is usually so that you can fold it, shape it, twist it, and turn it, and make truly imaginative creations! But, how do you know when your frozen pizza dough has defrosted enough?

It can be a tricky thing to guess, because if the pizza dough is still too frozen, you won’t be able to roll it out or shape it the way you want it. But if it’s defrosted for too long, it can also lose its natural shape, become too moist, and require more flour when working with it. This can make for tougher dough.

So how can you tell?

Whether you’re using flat sheets of dough or large dough balls, you need to make sure that the center of the dough is completely defrosted. Because this is the area that will take the longest to defrost, once that’s finished you can be sure that the entire thing is entirely thawed. Then it will be ready to be worked in whatever way you need, and it will be much easier to do so!
