How to Store Commercial Pizza Dough

Commercial Pizza DoughOne of the best things about commercial pizza dough is that you can buy a large quantity of it, store it in the freezer, and do a ton of things with it whenever you need to. But how are you storing that freezer to oven dough? If it’s not the proper way, those treats you’re making with them might not be as tasty as you think they will be.

Too many business owners simply toss their pizza dough into the freezer and leave them there until needed. It doesn’t take long to realize that storing dough this way only flattens it, which can deflate it of air bubbles and bake up to be a dry, flat product as a result. Another problem with storing dough this way is that it can cause the bag to tear, which will expose the dough inside to air, depleting it of any moisture it had.

The answer is to forget about just tossing in your dough balls and hoping for the best. Instead, place them in boxes and store the boxes in the freezer. This will give some sturdy boundaries around the dough, on top of which items (such as more boxes of dough) can be placed.

Stackable racks, placed inside of a shelving unit, are also ideal pieces of equipment that can help store your dough properly for you. Place shorter shelves inside your freezer, and when it’s time to pull dough out for defrosting or to top, you can place it on a larger rack in the kitchen while it’s waiting.

Getting the best possible dough to serve your customers is the best way to keep them coming back for more. But when you want your dough to deliver to its fullest potential, do your best to help it out by making sure you store it properly.
