How big was the world’s largest homemade pizza? And how much frozen pizza dough and other ingredients were needed to do it? There are actually two contenders that need mentioning, but both needed a whole lot of dough in order to do it!

The first was made in Johannesburg, South Africa back in 1990, at the Norwood Pick ‘n Pay hypermarket. A total of 500 kilograms of flour of flour were used to make the pizza crust, and it was topped with 800 kilograms of cheese and 900 kilograms of tomato sauce. The pizza was so big that it had a diameter of 37.4 meters, and even made it into the Guinness Book of World Records.

That record was held for over a decade, when Bill Bahr, owner of a pizza restaurant in Iowa Falls decided that he wanted a chance to beat it. For his pizza he used 4,000 pounds of cheese, 700 pounds of sauce, and there were a total of 9,500 different sections of dough. The pizza ended up measuring 129 x 98.6-feet, and he used it to serve up 10 slices to every resident of Iowa Falls.

What do you think? Is your restaurant ready to be the challenger for this record by creating an even bigger pizza?
