Homemade Pizza is Yummy, but Could You Eat It for a Month Straight?
Lots of people say that they could live off of homemade pizza, but could they really? One man by the name of Craig Scharoff has proven that he at least, can. For one month anyway.
Scharoff was 41 years old at the time, living in Northbrook, Illinois. After a discussion at work one day, Scharoff’s co-worker, Ronnie Kaplan, bet him that he couldn’t eat pizza for every meal for one month straight. And he could only have one pizza garnish on it – his favorite, sausage. Kaplan was so sure that he would win the bet that he posted onto a pizza forum, saying that if Scharoff could eat nothing but pizza for the month of October 2009, Kaplan would give him $2,000.
Scharoff was only allowed to eat crust, sausage, sauce and cheese; and all these toppings had to be cooked right into the dough. Not all of it had to be homemade, and in fact, it was only one of these types that Scharoff ate during the entire month. The rest could be frozen pizza or take-out, but he wasn’t allowed any sides, desserts, or chips with it. Just pizza, for one whole month.
Scharoff held true to his word; he loved pizza so much that he could eat nothing but that for one month straight. He won the $2,000 but said that he loved pizza so much, it didn’t feel right to him to get paid to do it. He rewarded himself by donating the proceeds to the Northern Illinois Food Bank; and he also lost six pounds during the process.
