Garden Veggies Are the Obvious Choice for Whole Wheat Pizza Dough Toppings

pizza ingredientsWhen you’re offering whole wheat pizza dough as an option in your pizzeria or restaurant, garden veggies are a natural pairing to go with it. Typically people choose whole wheat products because they’re looking for healthier options as an alternative to things such as white flour. It’s for this reason that natural, nutritious garden vegetables are such an obvious choice to marry with them.

When many restaurants are choosing toppings for their vegetarian pizza, they go with the obvious choices: green peppers, mushrooms, green and/or black olives, and red onion. But you can take your veggie pizza up another level by offering roasted vegetable pizza. Use slices of zucchini, tomatoes, broccoli, and even butternut squash and let them all become brown and carmalized in the oven. Your customers will love it, and it’s such a simple way to dress up plain old veggie pizza.

Tomato sauce is great with vegetarian pizza but when you’re already putting different spins on it, why not use a white sauce, or a pesto sauce, which is delicious!

Roasted veggies are also very tasty on gluten free pizza crust, another option that will let your customers make an even healthier choice, and a tasty one at that!
