Frozen Breadsticks Make Awesome Chocolate Bread Pudding!

Par Baked ShellsAny kind of frozen bread dough would work with this recipe, but if you use frozen breadsticks you won’t even need to break them up before baking!

Ingredients:

  • 6 slices of bread sticks or other package dough
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups chocolate milk
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Lightly grease a baking dish and preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. If using bread sticks, layer them in the bottom of the dish. If using other bread, break it up into smaller pieces first before layering.
  3. Drizzle bread with melted butter.
  4. In a large bowl, beat together the eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Beat just until mixture is well combined and then pour over the bread. If needed, push the bread down lightly with a spatula to ensure that entire bread is covered.
  5. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes, or until the top of the bread springs back lightly when touched.
  6. Remove from oven and allow to rest for just a few minutes before serving.

If you need to make this ahead of time, just cut out slices as your customers order it and heat for two minutes under the broiler, putting more chocolate chips on top just before serving. This will be the best bread pudding they’ve ever had!
