With just one roast and a little time, you can turn a basic roast beef sandwich into a gourmet French dip sandwich! Use sub rolls or other wholesale bread to pile that tender meat onto, and you’ll wonder why you waited so long to put them on your menu!

Ingredients:

  • 3 pounds chuck roast
  • ½ cup water
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Place roast in a slow cooker, slicing in half if necessary to make it fit. Pour water into the bottom of the slow cooker, and season roast with salt and pepper.
  2. Cover slow cooker, set to low, and cook for about 8 hours.
  3. Remove roast from slow cooker and set on cutting board to rest for at least 15 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, strain juices from slow cooker into a large pot over high heat. Boil vigorously until juices are reduced by half, creating the au jus for the meat.
  5. Slice meat very thinly and when ready to serve, drag slices through hot au jus and pile generously onto rolls or other package dough.

Serve the sandwich sliced in half, and with extra au jus for dipping. And so easy to make, it will quickly become one of your favorites too!
