A Day When You Might Want to Take Pizza Garnish Off the Menu!

Pizza GarnishAs the owner of a restaurant, pizzeria, or cafeteria, when it’s time for a promotion you probably look to the frozen bread dough in your freezer and to other items you sell to determine how you can put them on your menu, and really market your campaign. But there’s one day in November that you might want to promote your restaurant by taking an item off the menu, a pizza garnish that often goes ignored – anchovies.

That day is November 12 , when the country takes notice of National Pizza with Everything But Anchovies Day. Of course, this day was established because so many customers have, at one time or another, ordered a “pizza with everything but the anchovies.” People love to pile all kinds of toppings onto their homemade pizza, but for some reason these small fish have had thousands of people turn their nose up at them. On this day, tell your customers that you appreciate them – no matter what they might want to have on their pizza.

Take anchovies completely off, and tell customers who order them that they’ll be available again tomorrow. Of course, have some on hand just in case a customer really does want anchovies on their pizza, but at least you would have mentioned the day, and maybe gotten a real conversation with your customers – something every restaurant owner wants to do. After all, even with the best toppings and dough, customers won’t come if they don’t get great customer service!
